Narrative
Men and women live in a giant underground silo with several regulations they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic and ruined world above. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. The floor fans in various episodes rotate the wrong way, relative to the orientation of the blades.

Spinning this way doesn’t push or pull in any air. For those who are unfamiliar, or may not be aware of a plot technique called “mystery boxing”, mystery boxing is a method used by a writer to place mysteries and/or secrets within a plot or story arc in order to keep the audience invested and engaged in the overall narrative while providing “rewards” for those viewers to successfully guess the contents of the mystery box before or when the mystery box is finally opened or revealed. The entire story of SILO is a vast minefield filled with mystery boxes of plot, which the viewer is challenged to crawl and claw their way through.
The main premise of SILO or the overarching main mystery box is very similar to that of LOST
The true art and success of mystery box deployment depends on the viewer’s tolerance for the frequency of mystery box placements and when the mystery boxes are finally opened for the audience. At the heart of SILO, the main question or mystery for the audience is: “Why does this community live in a post-industrial artificial concrete hole dug into the ground?” The beginning of SILO is interesting. The opening “hook”, the sets, the acting, the production values, the cinematography are all good, if the viewer likes the whole low-key dystopian genre.
SILO is primarily a character-driven drama, moving slowly, with repetitive themes
The challenge for the viewer might become the fast-paced assembly line of mystery boxes constantly being dumped and the overall slow pace of the plot. An Excel spreadsheet might also be useful to keep track of all the mystery boxes dumped in the episodes. Some viewers may enjoy the level of detail and pacing, while others may have their attention spans tested.
